Dans un des premiers grands atlas encyclopédiques américain de Thomas G. Bradforf, A Comprehensive Atlas Geographical, Historical and Commercial (1835), figure une carte intitulée "The Countries of the Ancient World Exhibiting the Probable Settlement of the Descendants of Noah" (p.179). Elle reprend le mythe du peuplement de la Terre par les trois fils de Noé: Sem, Cham et Japhet et leurs descendances.
